Dr. Donald Gray Barnhouse, the well known Bible
expositor and one of America’s outstanding preachers, had a gift for stating
truth concisely. He said:
We have a relationship that can never be changed:
We have a righteousness that can never be tarnished:
the
very righteousness of Christ Himself.
We have a resource
that can never be dismantled
The
power of the spirit of God.
We have a peace that can never be destroyed:
it is
the God of Peace Himself.
We have a joy that can never be suppressed:
the
Scriptures call it “joy unspeakable and full of glory.”
We have a love that will never let us go.
God’s
unconditional love.
We have an Intercessor
whose prayers can never go unanswered:
the spirit of Christ within us.
We have a Sovereign Lord Who Can Never Lose Control:
the
King of kings Himself.

Something Good Is Going to Happen to You!"
There are moments in
life when the headlines are heavy, the heart is weary, and the road ahead feels
uncertain. We wake up some mornings not with expectation, but with
endurance—just hoping to make it through the day. Yet into that quiet
discouragement, the truth of God’s character speaks with steady authority: God
is good. Not occasionally good, not selectively kind, but unwaveringly,
relentlessly good. His goodness is not dependent on our circumstances; it is
rooted in His nature. And because He does not change, neither does His goodness
toward you.
When we say, “Something
good is going to happen to you,” we are not clinging to wishful thinking or
shallow optimism. We are anchoring ourselves in the promises of a faithful God
who is always at work—often in ways we cannot yet see. Scripture reminds us
that “every good and perfect gift is from above,” and that God works all things
together for the good of those who love Him. That means even what feels delayed
is not denied, and even what feels broken is not beyond His ability to restore.
God’s goodness has a way of weaving itself through the fabric of our lives,
turning even sorrow into something sacred.
Sometimes the goodness
of God arrives like a sunrise—gradual, quiet, and unmistakable. A door opens
that you didn’t knock on. Strength comes that you didn’t know you had. Peace
settles into your spirit without explanation. Other times, His goodness comes
like a sudden breakthrough—a prayer answered, a burden lifted, a path made
clear. But whether it comes softly or suddenly, it always comes. Because God is
not distant or disinterested; He is intimately involved in the details of your
life, working behind the scenes for your benefit and His glory.
It is easy to measure
life by what hasn’t happened yet, by the prayers still unanswered or the dreams
still waiting. But faith shifts our focus. It teaches us to look not only at
what is missing, but at Who is present. The goodness of God is not merely something
ahead of you—it is already surrounding you. It is in the breath in your lungs,
the grace that has carried you this far, the unseen protection that has kept
you, and the quiet assurances that whisper, “I am with you.” When you begin to
recognize His goodness in the present, you awaken an expectation for His
goodness in the future.
So lift your eyes a
little higher today. Refuse to let discouragement have the final word. Let hope
rise again—not because life is easy, but because God is good. Speak it over
your life, even if your voice trembles: Something good is going to happen to me.
Not because you deserve it, but because He delights in blessing His children.
His goodness is already on the move, already arranging, already preparing what
you cannot yet perceive.
And when it comes—and it
will—you will look back and see that God was faithful all along. Every delay
had a purpose. Every detour carried His hand. Every tear was held in His care.
The goodness of God is not a distant promise; it is a present reality unfolding
in your life.
So take heart. Stand
firm. Stay expectant.
"Something good is
going to happen to you !"—because God is good, and He has not forgotten
you!
And reading makes me yell, GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME; ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD! AMEN?
