God is good all the time; all the time, God is good! Amen?

What a wonderful good time to be alive! For me, July 2020 was the weirdest month in my 85 years of life. So many blessings poured out upon me that I can't even name them all here. I hope each and every one of you reading this has also received blessing through this pandemic. What the devil has brought forth God is making good come from it. One nice thing about being old you have a lot to remember that were predicted 65 years ago. I was in college and taking Prophecy 101. My professor was the president of the college and had just received his credentials of THD, and his major was in prophecy. He was exhorting in Matthew 24:

"Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: if the honor in the house had known what time of night the thief is coming, he would have kept watch and would not have left his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the man will come in an hour when you do not expect him."

We're talking three generations ago here. TV is a brand-new thing, moving pictures were forbidden to be watched, telephones had operators, and we didn't have to dial one for English, homosexuals were still in the closet, and ministers of the gospel were forbidden to wear bowties. But our professor told us wannabe preachers that we would live long enough to see "change in seasons, earthquakes, storms that devastate and terror cities, hail like 50 pounds of ice. And our country is given over to one-world government. There would be TVs in every home, and pictures of naked women would come up. Telephones would come that you can see the person you are talking to. Homosexuality would become the norm, and men and women in high places would make us feel guilty if we do not believe that. Bibles will be taken from us and burned. People will not be allowed Bible study even in their own homes."

We are there, and I am ready to meet my Lord and Savior. Even in tribulation and heartaches, Jesus has me in the hollow of His hand and carries me when I can't walk and makes my heart cry out: God is good all the time; all the time, God is good! Amen?

Another thing this pandemic has brought to us in the church is a call for unity. We need to pray for our leaders, not hate them. The Bible says, "finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this, you were called so that you may inherit a blessing." 1 Peter 3:8 – 9

Dr. Leslie Flynn writes about the time when the English and French were at war in colonial Canada. "Admiral Phipps, in charge of the British Fleet, was ordered to anchor outside Quebec, a city on the St. Lawrence River. He was to await the coming of the British infantry and then join the land forces in the attack.

"Arriving early, Admiral Phipps, an ardent nonconformist, was annoyed by the statues of the saints that adorned the roof and towers of the Catholic cathedral. So he spent his time shooting at them with the ships' guns. How many he hit we don't know, but history recorded that when the infantry arrived and the signal was given for the attack, the admiral found himself out of ammunition. He had used it for shooting out the saints."

I often wonder in the church how much of our efforts are poured into fighting among ourselves over insignificant trivialities instead of uniting our efforts to attack the real enemy. And do everything possible to reach the lost with the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ—the only hope of our sin-sick world.

When I brought this before the Lord, He told me to pray Scripturally. I asked what that meant. So He said, let's pray this prayer: "in your day of trouble, may the Lord be with you; may the God of Jacob keep you from all harm. He can send you aid from his sanctuary in Zion. May He remember with pleasure the gifts you have given Him, your sacrifice and burnt offerings. May he grant your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans. May there be shouts of joy when we hear the news of your victory, like praying with praise to God for all that he has done for you. May he answer all your prayers!" Psalm 20:1 – 5.
