WHAT IS THE WORLD? The teacher asked this question at Sunday school. The class was over before I could speak and I didn’t make sense when I did speak, so, I came home and wrote this: The dictionary says, “the world is the planet Earth and all life on it, including human civilization. … In a theological context, the world is the planet Earth and all life on it, including human civilization. … In a very logical context, the world is the material or the profane sphere, as opposed to celestial, spiritual, transcendent, or sacred spheres .   “End of the world” scenarios referred to the end of human history, often in a religious context.
